ServoSkull Asset - Warhammer 40k - Unreal

As part of the ServoSkull project, I wanted to add a couple assets to make him the guardian of a tomb. However, I ran out of time to do all I wanted, and I ran into the glare issue: When details are too small in geometry, Unreal doesn´t interpret them correctly. Normally this is not hard to fix, you just have to import the asset overscaled, and then the poligons get bigger, thus no problem. However Unreal refused to remove the pesky bright spots on the book, and a more correct fix would involve redoing geometry, then redoing textures. I ran out of my time for this project. so this one goes in the maybe next time. It was a shame not to show it though, so here you have it!

It does look cool with candle light.

Creating a text that fits 40k is not that hard, but to give the pages some story on their own takes a bit of work. The smudges and differernt seals help the story behind the book.

Although I just mentioned story, for the hard cover I went strictly by coolness factor, in 40k terms of course. Skulls and the Inquisition seal fits the bill, with some floral stuff

The emperor´s logo is extremely cool, but couldn´t resist to add my own there.

When I added the parchment, I didn´t have a clear idea of what to put in there. But then I thought I had the perfect picture done already: the original sketch for the ServoSkull.

Inquisition... are not nice people, lets leave at that.

Purity seals I made, not only for the skull but also for the book. The idea was to hang two of them on the book. I am pretty happy with the wax and it´s shine with the light.

This was the blueprint animation, and it was the original idea for the skull pose. However, I ended up going for the moving version first.

This was one of the possible setups in DarkRuins for the ServoSkull with the book. However the issue I had would mean to redo a lot of stuff in the model, and it was time to move on.

When Unreal gets poligons too small to interpret, then we run into this glare issue: those poligons are translated to points and then those points are the brightest in screen. I couldnt put more time into it, so moved on.
